Student team project at CGL in November 2015
Galata Runner is a 3D, Quick-Time-Event-based game about a blinded man on the run. He was set into a perfidious tournament held by a group of rich managers who bet on illegal races on the roofs of Istanbul. The only way for him to survive is to follow instructions received via walkie-talkie from an ally who has access to the surveillance system.
The aim: Galata Tower.
The opponent: Death.
The prize: Freedom.
Programmer (Unity5 / C#)
Motion Capture Actor
Create a video game with a small team in four weeks by using motion capture and be creative with the camera.
After brainstorming and pitching ideas to the class, I teamed up with Heiko Overath, Martin Pieck, Mia Vujicic and Alexander Ziska. We combined my idea of a one-button running game watched through security cameras with a similiar idea where you had to use quick-time-events to avoid obstacles. Additionally we decided to make a serious game about freedom of speech.
We had four weeks to create this game alongside our normal studies. The first week was used for creating a concept, a storyboard, asset-lists etc. In the second and third week we had to record the motion capture, sounds, create all basic assets and a fully functional game. In the last week we fixed bugs and polished as much as possible in this small timeframe.
The result was the game "Galata Runner" with a serious backstory and two possible endings.
